Pioneer Day

We had a great Pioneer Day. We ended up sleeping in, so we just watched the parade on TV instead of going to it. After the parade we went to the Lion House for lunch. The food was delicious and we enjoyed having lunch in an old pioneer house. Then we headed to the Gateway where Union Pacific was having a 100 year celebration. They had a mini train for people to ride on, a short presentation, some free goodies, a train video game and other fun stuff. We just did the train ride and got some goodies and then let James play in the fountains for a bit. After that we did some window shopping at City Creek. We had a good day. Then I made a Pioneer dinner (tin foil dinner). And that was our Pioneer day.

The day of the birthday.

I've had a birthday shout hooray.
I like to sing about my day.
One year older and wiser too.
Happy Birthday, to me.

Last Sunday was my birthday. We celebrated it by speaking in sacrament meeting and Tracy made a very yummy dinner; one of my favorite dinners he cooks Chicken Milanese. Our talks went well. We have received several compliments on them. Which is nice to know people enjoyed mine, since I was a nervous wreck. Public speaking is definitely not a strength for me. Tracy's parents came and sat with James. It was nice that they decided, kind of last min, to be there.

Over all it was a good day. Dinner and cake were definitely a favorite.

And that was the day of the birthday.

July 4th

Guess I better play catch up here for a bit and back track to the beginning of the month. The 4th of July was a good one this year. I was looking through my pictures and it doesn't look like we actually took any from that day.

The celebrations actually started on the 1st for us. My brother, Allen, hosted a bbq and firework night, since my sister, Sharlotte, who lives in AZ was in town for the weekend. It was a lot of fun to hang out with family. James especially enjoyed being with his favorite aunt. He had to know where Kandace was every second. James also really loved the fireworks.

On the 4th we got up early for our ward 4th of July breakfast. We were asked to help with it. Tracy did more helping then me since I took care of James the whole time. After the breakfast we headed down to Nephi to celebrate the holiday with Tracy's parents. Nephi city has a huge party in the city park with carnival rides and games for the kids, breakfast, lunch, a show and they auction off several items. All the proceeds from the day go to the boy scouts. James didn't want to ride any of the rides or play any of the games. Tracy and I did win a couch set during the auction. That evening we had more bbq and fireworks with my family at my mom's house. James is a huge firework fan.

The following Saturday to end our fun 4th of July celebration, we went to a Salt Lake Bees baseball game. We got the cheap seats on the grass, so that James could run around. Now when he sees picture of him at the game he says, "James at baseball." Such a cutie pie. At the end of the game we got to see more fireworks. Only this time they were the big ones in the sky. James really loved those.

I couldn't help but take a lot of pictures of this funny kid. Here are a few:

Did I mention James loves fireworks?
