Birth Story

My sister wanted me to post James's birth story so here you go Crystal a post just for you. Actually I was going to do it on my last post, but it was late and I needed to go to bed.

Sunday started out just like any other day, except we had to get my sister Sharlotte to help us tow our car to our apartment. It had quite working Saturday night; luckily it died about 4 blocks from our apartment, so towing it wasn't too hard.

Throughout the day I was have Braxton-Hicks contractions, it was about half way through the super bowl that they turned into real contractions. Then around midnight, we decided it was time to head to the hospital. Of course with a dead car we had to walk. Luckily the hospital is only 2 blocks away. After checking in, settling into the Labor & Delivery Room, and walking around for a bit it was about 4 am. The contractions started to get really strong and painful, so I decided to get an epidural. Love the epidural. After getting the epidural, we had a scare moment. James heart rate dropped and my blood pressure dropped. I was then put on oxygen the rest of the time. We got stabilized with the help of the doctor and nurses. They were about ready to take us to the OR for a C-section. Glad that didn't happen. The rest of the morning/day went by in a blur. Finally after being at the hospital for 13 hours it was time to push. James wasn't handling the pushing very well. His heart rate kept dropping again, so the doctor asked the nurse to bring in the vacuum in case they needed to get him out fast. But James's heart rate started to stay normal and after 15 mins of pushing, our little James was born.
Here we are the next day. James is such a sweet baby.

The Crib

Here is our crib. It's been quite the addition to our little room, but we made it work. Thank to my wonderful sister Crystal for giving it to us.  It is still sitting unused, but hopefully soon out little guy will decide to make his entrance.
